WASHING CLOTHES
AROUND WINONA, MISSISSIPPI IN THE FORTIES, ACCORDING TO THE
INFORMANT, IN ORDER TO WASH CLOTHES ONE HAD TO "FETCH" WATER TO A
HUGE KETTLE UNDER WHICH A FIRE BURNED. AFTER THE CLOTHES BOILED A
WHILE, THEY WERE TAKEN OUT AND DRAPED OVER BUSHES AND TREES.
