CHURCH CUSTOM

PHINGSTEN--THIS IS A NATIONAL HOLIDAY WHICH IS CELEBRATED ON THE
SECOND SUNDAY AFTER ASCENSION THURSDAY. THE NEXT DAY (MONDAY), IS
ALSO A CELEBRATED HOLIDAY AND THERE IS NO WORK OR SCHOOL. THIS
COMMEMORATES THE DESCENT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN THE
FORM OF BURNING TONGUES UPON THE APOSTLES OF CHRIST. IT IS AT THIS
TIME THAT THE APOSTLES WERE ENDOWED WITH SO MUCH KNOWLEDGE AND
WISDOM, AND WERE ABLE TO GO OUT AND BE TEACHERS OF MEN.
