LENTEN DISHES

IN BULGARIA IMMEDIATELY BEFORE THE BEGINNING OF THE LONG LENTEN FAST,
EVERY DISH IN THE HOUSE IS SCRUBBED TO REMOVE ANY POSSIBLE MEAT
RESIDUE.

LENT IN THE ORTHODOX CHURCH, NO MEAT CAN BE EATEN.
