THE FOUNDING OF CRACOW
A POLISH LEGEND? THE TOWN OF CRACOW, ACCORDING
TO LEGEND, WAS FOUNDED BY THE MYTHICAL RULER KRAK. IT WAS
HE WHO SLEW THE DRAGON OF WOWEL HELL, WHICH HAD
TERRORIZED THE PEOPLE BY DEMANDING THAT OFFERINGS
OF SHEEP AND CATTLE BE BROUGHT TO HIS CAVE IN EXCHANGE
FOR THE LIVES OF THE TOWNSPEOPLE.
