LEGEND
IN THE PHILIPPINES, YOUNG CHILDREN ARE KEPT FROM PLAYING OUTDOORS
LATE AT NIGHT BY THE LEGEND OF UNANO OR DWENDE. THESE CREATURES
HAVE HOMES UNDER MOUNDS OF EARTH, BUT LEAVE THEM DURING THE DAY.
AT DUSK, HOWEVER, THE UNANO OR DWENDE RETURNS TO HIS HOME, AND IF
A CHILD SHOULD HAPPEN TO STEP ON ONE OF THESE EARTH MOUND HOMES,
THE UNANO OR DWENDE WILL BECOME AGGRAVATED AND WILL CHASE THE CHILD.
