The James T. Callow Folklore Archive
FOR CHOOSING WHO WILL BE "IT" IN A MATCH, ALL WILL PUT
THEIR TOES IN A CIRCLE AND SAY:
MY MOTHER AND YOUR MOTHER WERE HANGING UP CLOTHES,
MY MOTHER SOCKED YOUR MOTHER RIGHT IN THE NOSE.
WHAT COLOR WAS THE BLOOD?
(NAME A COLOR AND SPELL IT)
AT THE END, WHOEVER'S FOOT THE LAST SYLLABLE ENDED ON
WOULD BE REMOVED. THIS WAS DONE AGAIN AND AGAIN UNTIL
THE OWNER OF THE LAST FOOT WAS DEEMED "IT."
