FAMILY NAME

IN MY FIANCE'S FAMILY (MR. AND MRS. DONALD SULLIVAN), THE
MOTHER (AND WIFE) IS COMMONLY CALLED "GRANNY" AND THE ONLY
SON (DONALD JR.) IS CALLED SIMPLY "SON." THEIR FIRST NAMES
ARE RARELY USED EXCEPT FOR EMPHASIS. THE REASON BEHIND MRS.
SULLIVAN BEING CALLED "GRANNY" IS THAT MR. SULLIVAN (WHO HAS
SILVER HAIR) WAS NICKNAMED BY NEIGHBORHOOD CHILDREN AS
"GRANDPA" (THIS NO LONGER EXISTS). HE DECIDED THAT IF HE WAS
TO BE CALLED "GRANDPA", MRS. SULLIVAN WOULD BE "GRANNY." THE
NAME HAS SINCE STUCK WITH HER.
