MARCH
ITALIANS SAY THAT MARCH IS CRAZY--"MARZO E PAZZO."
AND SO MARCH GOT ANGRY AND RESENTED IT; SO HE SAID
TO HIS BROTHER, APRIL, "O BROTHER APRIL, LOAN ME
FOUR DAYS, SO I CAN PUNISH THESE PEOPLE." THAT IS
WHY THE FIRST FOUR DAYS OF APRIL ARE ALWAYS THE
WORST KIND OF WEATHER.
Submitter comment:
THE IRISH VERSION OF THIS IS AN OLD "RIABLACK"
OR BRINDLED COW DYING FOR LACK OF FODDER IN MARCH.
THE COW PRAYED THANKING GOD THAT MARCH WAS OVER,
BUT MARCH HEARD HER AND BORROWED 1, 2, OR 3, DAYS FROM
APRIL IN ORDER TO DO AWAY WITH THE COW.--AMA C. BARR
