HIDE AND SEEK

A GAME KNOWN AS "HIDE AND SEEK" PLAYED BY CHILDREN, USUALLY
AT NIGHT, HAS ONE WARNING USED THAT SOMETIMES SOUNDS LIKE
THIS: APPLES, PEACHES, PUMPKIN PIE, WHO'S NOT READY, HOLLER
I. THIS IS SAID BY THE PERSON PURSUING THOSE WHO ARE IN
HIDING, AS A WARNING THAT HE'S COMING FOR THEM.

Submitter comment: INFORMANT LEARNED THIS HIMSELF WHEN HE WAS YOUNGER AND
ABLE TO PLAY THE GAME HIDE AND SEEK. THIS IS ONE OF THE
SAYINGS USED BY THE PERSON WHO IS TO COME LOOKING FOR
THOSE WHO ARE HIDING.

Where learned: MICHIGAN ; DETROIT

Subject headings: Ballad Song Dance Game Music Verse -- Game Verse
