PROSE NARRATIVE-GHOST STORY

A FRIEND OF THE INFORMANT HAS A HAUNTED HOUSE IN NASHVILLE.
WHEN IT WAS BOUGHT THERE WAS A WALKING CANE IN A CLOSET. THE PAST
OWNER, A WOMAN WHO WAS RECENT WIDOW, SAID IT WASN'T HERS; BUT SHE
COULD NOT FIND HER HUSBAND'S CANE. HE HAD WALKED WITH IT FOR YEARS.
THE CANE CONTINUED TO SHOW UP IN THE CLOSET OF THE HOUSE AND AT
NIGHT THERE WERE FOOTSTEPS OF A LIMPING PERSON, WHICH WENT AWAY
AS SOON AS THE LIGHTS CAME ON. THIS STILL OCCURS ALMOST EVERY
NIGHT AND HAS BEEN WITNESSED BY VISITORS WHO, WHEN THEY
VOLUNTEER TO SLEEP IN THE DEAD MAN'S ROOM, SEE HIS GHOST THERE.
THE HOUSE IS ON SUGARTREE STREET.
