GYPSY BURIAL CUSTOM
AT A BURIAL, EACH PERSON EXCEPT THE NEAREST RELATIVE
OF THE DECEASED TAKES A DRINK OF WINE BEFORE ANY DIRT
IS THROWN OVER THE CASKET. WHEN ALL HAVE FINISHED,
THE NEAREST RELATIVE POURS HIS WINE ON THE CASKET.
THIS SIGNIFIES THE DEAD TAKING HIS LAST DRINK.
