ON HER HONEYMOON

A BRIDE SHOULD WEAR SOMETHING BORROWED AND SOMETHING BLUE
AND WEAR A PENNY IN HER SHOE. THIS MEANS SHE WILL ALWAYS HAVE
MONEY.

Submitter comment: THIS ITEM WAS LEARNED FROM HER ADOLESCENT STAGE IN HER HOME TOWN.
THIS SUPERSTITIOUS BELIEF THAT REQUIRES CERTAIN CLOTHES TO BE WORN
FOR THE PURPOSE OF HAVING MONEY FOR THE REST OF HER LIFE, IS
ASSOCIATED WITH DOMESTIC PURSUIT FOR A NEW BRIDE.
THIS BELIEF HAS A MAGICAL AIR ABOUT IT, BECAUSE THE OBJECT SEEMS
TO HAVE SOME CONTROL OVER THE COUPLE WHO IS TO BE MARRIED.

Where learned: MICHIGAN ; DETROIT
