MANNA FROM HEAVEN

THIS IS A POLISH WEDDING TRADITION CUSTOMARILY
PRACTICED BY THE NEWLYWEDS. AFTER THE WEDDING
CEREMONY, THE COUPLE GO TO THE PLACE WHERE
BREAKFAST IS SERVED. UPON THEIR ARRIVAL AT THE
ENTRANCE, THE COOK (OR ANYONE IN CHARGE OF PREPARING
THE MEAL) OFFERS THE BRIDE AND GROOM LITTLE PIECES
OF BREAD WHICH ARE SALTED. UPON EATING THE BREAD,
THIS SYMBOLIZES THAT THEY WILL NEVER GO HUNGRY
THROUGHOUT LIFE.

Submitter comment: I HAVE LEARNED THIS FROM MY POLISH ANCESTRY.

Where learned: MICHIGAN ; WARREN
