POLISH WEDDING CUSTOM

IT IS THE CUSTOM FOR THE OLDEST MEMBER OF THE BRIDE'S
FAMILY TO GREET THE NEWLY MARRIED COUPLE AT THE HOME
AFTER MASS. THIS MEMBER IS TO MEET THEM AT THE DOOR
CARRYING A PLATE WITH A PIECE OF RYE BREAD WITH SALT
WHICH THE NEWLYWEDS ARE TO EAT. THIS SYMBOLIZES THE
WISH OF THE WHOLE FAMILY THAT THEY WILL NEVER WANT.
