ROMANIAN WEDDING CUSTOM

MARRIAGE FESTIVITIES LAST THREE DAYS. BEGINNING AT
THE BRIDE'S HOME AND ENDING AT THE GROOM'S HOME.
A CART IS LOADED WITH ALL THE BRIDE'S DOWRY (EVERY- THING EVEN DOWN TO ARTICLES SUCH AS DISH TOWELS). THIS
CART IS TAKEN IN PROCESSION ALONG WITH PEOPLE CARRYING
BANNERS WHENEVER THE PEOPLE MOVE THE FESTIVITIES FROM
ONE HOME TO ANOTHER, AS WELL AS FIDDLERS AND THE KOLACHS.
THE KOLACHS ARE CAKES OF RAISED DOUGH WITH RAISINS
ROUND IN SHAPE. THE MORE OF THESE CAKES ONE HAS,
THE RICHER HE IS THOUGHT TO BE.
THE TRADITIONAL DINNER FOR THE WEDDING CONSISTS OF
CHICKEN SOUP, ROAST CHICKEN, RICE, POTATOES,
GALUSHTI (STUFFED CABBAGE ROLLS) AND KOLACHI.
