"DID THE LUMBERJACKS HAVE ANY RELIGION MRS. TOWNE?"
"WELL, THE LUMBERJACKS DID BELIEVE IN GOD, BUT THEY DID NOT
HAVE A CHURCH. I DO REMEMBER ONE TIME, THOUGH, WHEN A
MINISTER DID COME TO OUR LUMBERING CAMP. FOR A WHILE HE WAS
QUITE SUCCESSFUL IN CONVERTING AND BAPTISING THE LUMBERJACKS.
HIS SUCCESS ENDED, HOWEVER, WHEN THE LUMBERJACKS FOUND OUT
THAT THE WOMAN HE WAS LIVING WITH WAS NOT HIS WIFE. THEY RAN
THAT MINISTER OUT OF TOWN AND NEVER LISTENED TO ANY MORE
TRAVELING MINISTERS.
