IN THE LINKE FAMILY (ITALIAN RELATIVES OF MRS. MC FALL)
IT IS A CUSTOM TO BAKE COOKIES IN THE FAMILY COOKIE
PRESS AT A CHILD'S BAPTISM. THE PRESS ITSELF, CIRCA 1800,
MAKES ONE COOKIE AT A TIME. THE COOKIES ARE ABOUT TWO
INCHES IN DIAMETER AND HAVE THE FAMILY COAT OF ARMS AND
THE DATE THE PRESS WAS MADE IMPRESSED ON THEM. THE
PRESS, WHEN SET ON TOP OF A HOT STOVE OR HOT STONES,
WILL BAKE EACH COOKIE IN IT. THE PRESS WAS TRANSPORTED
FROM ITALY WITH THE GREAT-GRANDPARENTS OF THE PRESENT
LINKE FAMILY. ABOUT 200 COOKIES ARE MADE AT EACH
BAPTISM.
