The James T. Callow Folklore Archive
IN THE NEW ORLEANS AREA IT USED TO BE VERY COMMON TO
OBTAIN YOUR CHANGE FROM A PURCHASE IN HALVES, QUARTERS
AND NICKELS. IF YOU GAVE SOME ONE A DIME IN A
TRANSACTION, IT WAS IMMEDIATELY TAKEN OUT OF CIRCULATION.
