The James T. Callow Folklore Archive
AS PART OF THE BLACK FUNERAL RITE, THE HUSBAND ,
UPON THE DEATH OF HIS WIFE, WILL NOT HAVE A BOUQUET OF
FLOWERS PLACED BESIDE HER CASKET IN HONOR OF HER,
BUT A HEART SHAPED CENTER PIECE DONE IN WHITE
CARNATIONS AND FROM THE TOP LEFT (DIAGONALLY)
TO THE BOTTOM RIGHT, WILL BE A STREAM OF RED ROSES.
THIS IS CALLED THE "BLEEDING HEART."
