LOST DOG

I REMEMBER MY GRANDMOTHER TELLING ME ABOUT A NEIGHBOR
WOMAN WHO LIVED ALONE IN AN OLD HOUSE. SHE GOT AWFULLY
SICK ONE DAY AND SHE DIDN'T HAVE A TELEPHONE; SO SHE
TIED A NOTE AROUND HER DOG'S NECK AND SENT FOR HELP.
THEY FOUND HER FIVE DAYS LATER IN BED. SHE DIED OF A
STROKE. THEY STILL HAVEN'T FOUND THE DOG.

Submitter comment: THE INFORMANT TOLD ME THAT HER GRANDMOTHER RELATED
THIS STORY TO HER AROUND 1943. SHE IS THE SISTER-IN-LAW
OF THE COLLECTOR.
