THE INITIATION

AS A FRATERNITY INITIATION, A YOUNG MAN WAS TAKEN
TO A DAMP CELLAR, BLINDFOLDED, PUT THROUGH SEVERAL
HUMILIATING EXPERIENCES AND AS A FINALE WAS TOLD HIS
WRIST WOULD BE SLIT SO THAT HE COULD SHED SOME OF
HIS BLOOD FOR THE BROTHERHOOD. STILL BLINDFOLDED,
THE BLUNT EDGE OF A VERY COLD SPOON WAS PRESSED
AGAINST HIS WRIST. AT THE SAME TIME, WATER WAS
DROPPED INTO A BUCKET AT HIS FEET. THE BOY BECAME
SO FRIGHTENED, THAT HE DIED.
