THE IRANIAN NEW YEAR IS CELEBRATED ON THE FIRST DAY OF SPRING,
MARCH 20. ON THIS DAY IT IS CUSTOMARY TO VISIT FRIENDS AND EXCHANGE
GIFTS. PARENTS GIVE GIFTS OF MONEY TO THEIR CHILDREN. TYPICAL FOODS
ARE TOASTED MELON SEEDS, SWEETBREADS AND OTHER SWEETS.
