JEWISH DANCE--THE HORA

THE HORA IS A DANCE FROM ISRAEL WHICH IS REFERRED TO AS THE
"HARVEST DANCE." IT IS DANCED IN ISRAEL AT ALL HAPPENINGS.
HERE IN THE UNITED STATES, IT IS USUALLY DONE AT WEDDINGS,
BAR MITZVAHS, OR ANY HAPPY OCCASION.
ANY NUMBER OF PEOPLE JOIN HANDS IN A CIRCLE. DANCERS KICK ONE
FOOT AND THEN THE OTHER AS ALL TURN ABOUT IN A CIRCLE, WHILE
THEY DO THE DANCE AND SING THE SONG, HAVA NIGELLA.
HAVA NIGELLA:
RUN THRU THE VALLEY, RUN THRU THE CLOVER,
HARVEST IS OVER, DANCE, EVERYONE, DANCE.

DANCE WHERE THE CORN IS HIGH, UNDER A GOLDEN SKY,
DANCE WHERE THE WINE WAS BORN, DANCE, EVERYONE, DANCE.

WHIRL AND TURN ABOUT, LIFT UP YOUR HEAD AND SHOUT,
JOIN HANDS, SKIP ALONG, DANCE EVERYONE, DANCE.
