CUSTOM--MAY BASKETS
ON MAY DAY YOU MADE SPECIAL BASKETS OF CANDY, ETC., FOR YOUR FRIENDS,
HUNG IT ON THE DOORKNOB, RANG THE BELL AND RAN AWAY. THEN THE
PERSON CAME OUT AND CAUGHT YOU AND EVERYONE WENT IN AND HAD A FEAST
ON THE BASKET'S CONTENTS. THEY HAD TO GUESS WHO IT WAS FROM;
YOU DIDN'T PUT YOUR NAME ON IT.
Submitter comment:
THE INFORMANT HEARD THIS FROM HER AUNT WHO SAW IT IN ACTION WHILE
TEACHING IN CHAPLIN, CONN., ABOUT THIRTY YEARS AGO. THE
INFORMANT SENT THIS TO ME IN A LETTER.
