The Center for Augmenting Intelligence (CAI) at University of Detroit Mercy is a multidisciplinary initiative dedicated to applying artificial intelligence to real-world challenges through ethical, responsible, and community-centered innovation. CAI brings together faculty leaders, researchers, and graduate and undergraduate students from diverse disciplines, including health sciences, computer science, and data science, to collaborate on applied AI projects. The center supports experiential learning opportunities for students, interdisciplinary research for faculty, and partnerships with community and industry organizations. Through initiatives such as innovation challenges, applied research collaborations, and workforce training programs, CAI promotes the development and evaluation of practical AI solutions that address real community needs. By connecting education, research, and community engagement, CAI aims to expand access to AI knowledge, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and advance technology-driven solutions that improve health, learning, and community wellbeing.
