Woodward, Turner, and Mark Paulik. "Design and Integration of Analog Sensor Circuits for a Color-Tracking Mobile Robot."
In this project I designed and built an autonomous mobile robot starting from a bare chassis with two DC motors and an idler wheel. The goal was to apply electronic circuits concepts to create a complete sensing and control system. I implemented H-bridge motor driver circuits as well as a DC-DC power module to convert battery power to a regulated 5 V supply. Operational-amplifier circuits conditioned signals from infrared (IR) distance sensors and a PixyCam2 color-tracking camera. An Arduino microcontroller used these signals to generate PWM motor commands. Custom 3D-printed components were developed to mount the (IR) sensors and the PixyCam2 vision module. The robot tracks a trained colored object, avoids obstacles, and wanders when no target is detected.
