Kosi-Kupe, Anne-Marie, Timia Hairston, Chelsea Manning, and L. Mike Verdusco. "A Research Greenhouse-From Weeds To A Multifaceted Research Space."

With growing limited research resources and space, researchers’ creativity and resiliency are in high demand. The purpose of this project was to help our students with more external research spaces.

For almost four years, after winning a modest FIRE grant, the “initiator-principal investigator” describes the steps taken despite challenges, how a weedy area within the University of Detroit Mercy has been transformed into a viable greenhouse where teaching and research elements are cohabitant, and where both physical and virtual methodologies can be applied.

This space in the biology department's Life Science building will bring together students and faculty members from different departments, colleges, the university, and the community.
