Almeida,Thayz. "First Year Dental Students Perceptions of Collaborative, Two-Stage Testing: A Survey Analysis." ‡
Collaborative Learning is an educational strategy that emphasizes active participation, mutual support, and collective problem-solving. It has been shown to foster deeper engagement and improve students’ comprehension of course material. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness and limitations of a modified collaborative learning activity implemented with first-year dental students. The activity involved an individual exam followed by a group review, designed to encourage peer discussion and enhance content comprehension. After the activity, an anonymous survey will be administered to gather students' perceptions of the format. Data will be analyzed using descriptive statistics to assess students' opinions on the approach, perceived benefits, and challenges. The goal of this study is to provide a better understanding of how collaborative learning techniques can be integrated into dental education and offer insights into how this method might be optimized to improve learning in the early stages of the dental program.
