Digital Object Identifier

The Digital Object Identifier (DOI) is a unique alphanumeric string assigned to journal articles that identifies content and location. The DOI can be found in the electronic record of a journal article or the first page of a print article. The 6th edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association requires the DOI in the citation when the DOI is available.
