Security Protocols for Future Autonomous Vehicles

Autonomous driving vehicles are promising and will become a valuable option in the near future. Inter-Vehicular Communications (IVC) and Intra-Vehicle Communications (Intra-VC) are essentials for future driverless vehicle. However, to have a successful IVC and Intra-VC communications, these networks must be secure from outside access, hacking and malicious attacks. Therefore, this paper presents the state of the art of vehicle networks security protocols; IVC and Intra-VC. Also it identifies various types of potential security threats, and addresses the security requirements of future driverless vehicles. Moreover, this paper proposes a methodology and guide for future research in vehicle security.
