Web-Based Simulation as a Cost Saving Measure in Schools of Nursing

A significant need for innovative clinical practicum experiences exists due to dwindling availability of clinical practice sites, limitations imposed on student experiences by healthcare organizations, and students missing opportunities. Make-up clinical practicum experiences must meet student and school of nursing needs. Web-based simulation technology is an effective educational strategy to obtain nursing student outcomes of knowledge attainment, critical thinking, skill performance, and learner satisfaction. Web-based simulation technology is also a lower cost alternative to other forms of simulation, with similar nursing outcomes based on this literature review.
