SAINT PATRICK'S DAY FESTIVAL AND BELIEFS

SAINT PATRICK DERTA GEROGADE E FRANC OR ALBAN. THAT MEANS SAINT
PATRICK CAME FROM FRANCE OR ENGLAND. WE WERE TAUGHT THAT EXPRESSION
AS CHILDREN. HE WAS SENT BY POPE CELESTINE TO BRING THE CATHOLIC
FAITH TO IRELAND. HE KILLED ALL THE SNAKES IN IRELAND BY SQUASHING
THEM WITH HIS STAFF. HE DIDN'T REALLY EXIST THOUGH. WE WOULD
CELEBRATE SAINT PATRICK'S DAY IN ENGLAND BY WEARING ALL GREEN.

Submitter comment:

"SPELLMAN, BURKE, AND I WOULD GO OUT FOR A WALK IN THE COUNTRY BECAUSE
WE HAD NO MONEY AND WE DIDN'T WANT THOSE DAMN ENGLISH TO THINK WE
WERE STAYING HOME ON SAINT PATRICK'S DAY."

MY MOTHER, WHO IS FROM IRELAND, WENT TO NURSING SCHOOL IN ENGLAND IN
1947. SHE CAME FROM A POOR FAMILY.

PORTENDS A DISASTER. IT FAILED TO LIQUIFY BEFORE WORLD WAR 1 ,
WORLD WAR 2, AND THE KOREAN WAR. IT ALSO DIDN'T LIQUIFY IN 1963, THE
YEAR THAT THE INFORMANT SAW IT.

SAINT MAGNUS - APOSTLE OF THE ALLGAU

IN FUSSEN THERE IS A WATERFALL WHICH IS SPRING-FED FROM TYROL.
THE WATER FROM THE FALL FLOWS INTO A VERY NARROW GORGE.
ONE DAY ST. MAGNUS, THE APOSTLE OF THE ALLGAU, WAS BEING CHASED
BY HIS ENEMIES. THEY CORNERED HIM ABOVE THE WATERFALL. ST. MAGNUS HAD
TWO CHOICES: JUMP AND DROWN IN THE RUSHING WATERS OR BE CAPTURED BY
HIS ENEMIES. HE JUMPED AND MADE IT ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE GORGE.
TODAY, THERE STILL EXISTS A FOOTPRINT IN THE ROCK WHERE ST.
MAGNUS LANDED. NO MATTER WHAT MAN TRIES TO STEP INTO IT OR WHAT SIZE
SHOE HE WEARS, HIS SHOE WILL FIT THE FOOTPRINT.
