Theodore F. MacManus, scholastic son of Canisius College, Buffalo, and, by adoption, of the University of Notre Dame and Marquette University; publicist, author, philanthropist; who, as director of public relations for the motor car manufacturers, stimulated and promoted the phenomenal development of that industry, and through it contributed largely to the growth of our city and state; who outside the world of business has devoted the same vision, inspiration and energy to the organization and promotion of worthy religious, social and philanthropic purposes, winning by his soundness of views and integrity of purpose the respect and admiration of his fellow citizens, and meriting in particular by his devotion to Catholic truth and action the two-fold Papal decoration of Knight of Malta and Knight Commander of the Order of Saint Gregory, is recommended for the degree of Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, and to be placed on the roll of these whom the University of Detroit has singled out for special recognition.
