Goals & Objectives

The McNichols Campus Library, the Dental Library, and the Instructional Design Studio are vital instructional and informational sources for the academic community.  The Goals & Objectives reflect the collection, organization, access, and managment of library resources in print, media, or electronic.


The University of Detroit established its library on the original Jefferson Campus in 1877. Upon the completion of the Engineering Building in 1927, the library was moved to the third floor of that building. In 1952, the McNichols Campus Library (McNCL) was opened with all resources and staff transferred to the new facility. At different times in the history of the university Evening Business and Administration, Clarkston, and Outer Drive Campus libraries existed.

Personal items lost and found or left behind in either library are placed at the Circulation Department Check-Out desk in the respective library.

All patrons who use the libraries should expect equal access to the resources and the individual attention provided will assist special needs patrons be successful in their research endeavors.
